新型コロナウイルスのワクチンをめぐり、政府はこれまでにアメリカの製薬大手ファイザーとことし6月末までに6000万人分にあたる、1億2000万回分の供給を受けることで基本合意していて、先月、ファイザーは日本国内での使用に向け承認を求める申請を行っています。

田村厚生労働大臣は20日夜、記者団に対し、ファイザーとの間でワクチンが承認されることを前提に年内に7200万人分にあたるおよそ1億4400万回分の供給を受ける契約を正式に結んだと発表しました。

そのうえで「円滑なワクチンの提供に向けて引き続き連携して取り組んでいく。ことし前半までに、なるべく多くの人が接種できるよう供給をお願いしていく」と述べました。

「薬事申請 16歳以上で出している」

また、田村大臣は、ファイザーのワクチンを承認する場合の接種の対象年齢について「薬事申請を16歳以上という形で出している。日本以外では、臨床試験を16歳以上でしているので、しっかりと見ながら対応する形になる」と述べ、16歳以上とする方向で検討する考えを示しました。

"Pharmaceutical application is for those over 16 years old"

In addition, Minister Tamura when approving Pfizer's vaccine said that regarding the targeted age for inoculation, "We open the medical application to those 16 years old and above. Outside Japan, clinical trials were conducted for those 16 years old and over, so when look closely, we tightly correspond to this.” The intention to consider aiming at those 16 years old and above was shown.

              So, Japan is relying on Pfizer’s vaccine to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
