China - last year's exports at a record high – in a commanding position over trade war

香港（ＣＮＮ Ｂｕｓｉｎｅｓｓ） 新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大で各国が甚大な影響を受ける中、世界２位の経済大国である中国が貿易において他の主要国をしのぐ利益をあげていることが分かった。現状では米国との通商戦争でも優位に立っているとみられる。

１４日に発表された税関当局の統計によると、中国は昨年１２月に７８０億ドル（約８兆円）の貿易黒字を計上。通年での黒字額は過去最高の５３５０億ドルとなり、前年を２７％上回った。輸出額はこれまでで最大を記録した。

マッコーリー・キャピタルの中国担当チーフエコノミスト、ラリー・フー氏は調査報告書の中で「やや予想外なことだが、パンデミック（世界的流行）によって中国とそれ以外の国々との関係が深まった」と指摘した。

英オックスフォード・エコノミクスでアジア経済の分析を統括するルイス・クジス氏は、中国の貿易黒字の主因としてパンデミックへの対処に言及。危機を収束させたタイミングで防護具並びに在宅勤務の増加に伴う電子機器への需要が米国をはじめとする各国で拡大したことも輸出の追い風になったと指摘した。

新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大はちょうど１年余り前に、中国湖北省武漢から始まっている。

ＩＮＧの大中華圏担当チーフエコノミスト、アイリス・パン氏によれば、中国の２０年の対米貿易黒字は前年比７％増の３１７０億ドルと、１８年に次ぐ史上２番目の水準だった。

オックスフォード・エコノミクス のクジス氏は、「２０年に米国による中国からの輸入が急増したことから判断して、トランプ大統領の対中通商戦争は失敗だったと言ってよさそうだ 」と述べた。

The spread of the new coronavirus began just over a year ago in Wuhan of Hubei Province in China.

According to ING's Chief Economist for Greater China, Iris Pan (アイリス・パン), China's trade surplus with the United States in 2020 was $ 317 billion, up 7% from the previous year, and was the second highest level in history since 2018.

Mr. Kuzis of Oxford Economics said, "judging by the surge in US imports from China in 2020, it looks reasonable to say that President Trump's trade war with China was a failure".
