指揮家小澤征爾復出

Recently the FNN News reported the following:

食道がんのため休養していた指揮者・小澤征爾さん(74)が、長野・志賀高原で半年ぶりに活動を再開し、復帰に向けた意欲を示した。
小澤征爾さんは「第2の人生が始まったと思って、きょうが第1日目だと思っています」と話した。 小澤さんは、2009年、健康診断で食道がんが見つかったため、2010年1月から休養し治療に専念してきた。手術や治療の経過は順調で、7月末から長野・奥志賀高原で行われているオーケストラの勉強会に参加し、1日は、若手を熱心に指導する様子が公開された。 手術で食道を摘出し、15kgもやせたということで、「食べ物も少ししか食べられず、体力も戻っていないが、指揮ができたことは夢みたい」などと語った。 小澤さんは、9月5日に行われる、「サイトウ・キネン・フェスティバル松本」の公演で正式に復帰する。

Conductor Seiji Ozawa (74) who was taking a rest due to esophageal cancer began active again in Nagano and Shiga Kogen after half a year resting, and had shown the desire to return.

Seiji Ozawa said that, "I regard it as the first day today because I think of it as the start of my new life". Mr. Ozawa took a rest in January, 2010 because esophageal cancer was found after a checkup in 2009 and concentrated on receiving the treatment. The process of the operation and the treatment went well, since the end of July he participated in training gatherings of the orchestra held in Nagano and Oku-shiga Kogen, and on the 1st of this month he appeared openly like an ardent young man conducting. The gullet was removed in the operation and he was thinner by as much as 15 kg, it was said, " Although I am able to eat only a little food, and my physical strength has not returned I want to dream of the conducting again". Mr. Ozawa would return formally when he conducts for "Saitou Kinen Festival Matsumoto" on September 5.

It is nice to hear Mr. Ozawa is returning. His devotion to music commands my respect.
