スーツケース抱えて“脱出”
朝9時過ぎ。
私たちが待っていたのは、ロシアのサンクトペテルブルクから来るアレグロ号です。約350席は満席が続いていると聞き、その理由を確かめに来ました。
400キロを3時間半で結ぶ特急から降りてくる人たちの中には、大きなスーツケースをいくつも持った家族連れも目立ちます。新型コロナ対策で、列車にはロシア人とフィンランド人しか乗れません。
利用客が急増した3月初旬は、ロシアによるウクライナへの軍事侵攻を受けて欧米諸国からの経済制裁が強まった直後。欧米各国がロシアからの航空便の受け入れを拒否し、ロシアから出国する手段も限られるようになったときでした。
ロシア人がフィンランドに入国するには、ビザに加え、EUで認められているワクチンの接種証明も必要で、思い立ったらすぐ出発というわけにはいかないのです。
ロシアを出られなくなるかも
なぜ今、祖国ロシアを離れたのか。多くの人が口にしたのは、やはり経済制裁の影響です。
「もしかしたら今後、国境が封鎖されて国外に出られなくなってしまうかもしれない」
そんな不安もよぎったといいます。
IT関連の仕事で、ふだんは海外で暮らす32歳の男性は、去年12月からロシアに里帰りしていました。経済制裁が次々と強化され、いつも使っている銀行のカードが使えなくなりました。
仕事に欠かせないインターネットも、外部から組織内のサーバーにアクセスするためのVPNがロシア国内で遮断される可能性もあると考え、予定を早めてロシアを離れました。
エネルギー関連のビジネスに携わっている32歳の女性も、ビジネス環境の悪化を理由に挙げました。
金融機関での送金ができなくなり、国際線がほとんどなくなって出張はできません。ヨーロッパ各国の取引先とやりとりも難しくなり、ロシアに留まって働くことはできません。ヘルシンキからトルコのイスタンブールに向かい、そこでビジネスを立て直そうと考えています。
ただ、多くの人たちは、カメラを持った私たちを、避けるようにして足早に通り過ぎて行きます。ロシア国内で言論統制が強まるなか、自分や家族の身に危険が及ぶことをおそれているようです。
