東京の銀座・有楽町地区のデパート「西武有楽町店」が25日午後8時、26年の歴史に幕を下ろした。
午後8時に営業を終了した西武有楽町店で、閉店後、セレモニーが行われた。
西武有楽町店の店長は「本日をもちまして、営業を終了させていただきます」と話した。
閉店セールの最終日となった25日は、6万人が来店し、売り上げは1日で1億6,000万円に上ったという。
1984年にオープンした西武有楽町店は、OL向けのファッションの発信などを行ってきたが、カジュアル衣料品店舗の台頭などを受け、2010年2月期の売上高は138億円と、ピーク時の半分に落ち込んでいた。
百貨店業界では、景気低迷下で不採算店舗の見直しが相次いでおり、2010年に閉鎖したのはあわせて11店舗に上っている。
西武有楽町店のあとには、JR東日本系の商業施設「ルミネ」が入り、2011年秋に開業する予定。

The Seibu Yuraucho branch opened in 1984 aimed at sending out fashion to office ladies, but affected by the popularity of casual apparel stores etc, its sales in the period of February, 2010 dropped to 13.8 billion yen which was half of the peak.
In the department store industry, under the economic stagnation, unprofitable stores came under review one after another, and in 2010 up to 11 stores had been closed.
After the Seibu Yurakucho branch, the East Japan Railway affiliated commercial establishment "Lumine" was scheduled to come in, and to open business in the autumn of 2011.
Some old customers of the Seibu department store would miss its Yurakucho branch very much.
