これはアメリカの主要ITメディア「ザ・バージ」が、21日、ツイッターの社内会議の内容として報じたものです。

それによりますと、会議ではイーロン・マスクCEOが「日本の人口はアメリカのおよそ3分の1なのに、アメリカとだいたい同じ数のツイッターの利用者がいる」と述べたということです。

ドイツの調査会社が、ことし1月時点でまとめた各国のツイッターの利用者数は、アメリカが7690万人で首位、日本は5895万人で2位となっています。

マスク氏は「ツイッターはアメリカ中心に見えるかもしれないが、むしろ日本中心だ」と述べた上で、利用者の多さについて「理想的には、例外なくすべての国で目指すべきものだ」と指摘したと伝えられています。

またマスク氏はコストカットのための人員削減を終え、今後は、エンジニアなどを積極的に採用するとともに、インドや日本にエンジニアチームを分散して配置する方針を示したということで、日本などでの新しいサービスの展開につながるか注目されます。
