重症化リスクの低い患者も服用できるよう塩野義製薬が開発した新型コロナウイルスの飲み薬について、厚生労働省は22日、専門家の会議を開き、使用を認めるかどうか審議する予定です。認められれば国内の製薬会社が開発した軽症の段階で使える初めての飲み薬となります。

軽症の段階で使える新型コロナウイルスの飲み薬は、重症化リスクの高い患者用としてすでに海外の2つの薬が使用されていますが、国内では塩野義製薬が重症化リスクの低い患者も服用できるように開発した「ゾコーバ」について、ことし2月、承認申請を行っていました。

そして7月に、新たに創設された「緊急承認」の制度を使って承認の可否が審議されましたが継続審議となり、塩野義製薬はその後、新たな臨床試験の結果を厚生労働省などに提出していました。

これを受けて厚生労働省は、22日、専門家による会議で、薬の使用を認めるかどうか審議を行うことにしています。

会議では、▼発熱などの症状を改善する効果が認められたなどとする新たに提出された臨床試験の結果や▼薬の安全性に問題がないかどうかなどについて審議が行われる予定です。

承認されれば、国内の製薬会社が開発した軽症の段階で使える初めての飲み薬となります。

In response to this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare would hold a meeting of experts on the 22nd to discuss whether to approve the use of the drug.

At the meeting, there would be deliberations on the results of the newly submitted clinical trials that showed symptoms improvement such as fever, and on whether there were any problems with the safety of the drug.

If approved, it might be the first oral drug developed by a domestic pharmaceutical company that could be used in the mild stage.

              So, Japan will consider approving the use of a new coronavirus drug for patients with a low risk of severe disease. If approved, it will be the first oral drug developed by a Japanese pharmaceutical company that can be used in the mild stage. Doctors in Japan will have one more choice in treating Covid patients.
