Recently the FNN News reported the following:

For two more weeks, on December 4th, the Tohoku Shinkansen whole line would be open. On November 20, the general trial-ride fair was done for the newly opened Hachinohe to New Aomori line.
East Japan Railway planned a special trial-ride fair even if Shinkansen "Squall" could be experienced before the Tohoku Shinkansen whole line opening on December 4, application had poured in from the whole country, with 5000 capacity applied by 38,646 people, it became 7.7 times in excess.
The chosen people would be slightly earlier than others to actually feel the speed and the convenience of Shinkansen between Hachinohe and New Aomori when he got on it, and would experience the 260km per hour maximum section speed at the Hachikoda tunnel which was about 26.5km long, being the world's longest on land double-track line tunnel.

After its opening on December, the line would connect New Aomori and Tokyo by 15 round trips a day, in 3 hours 20 minutes.

I think after December 4th, travelling between Tokyo and the northern territories would be much faster.
