村上春樹氏に独紙文学賞「最も重要な日本の現代作家」

授賞理由として、選考委員会は「村上氏は最も重要な現代日本の作家」であり、「欧米近代という巨大な伝統をポップカルチャーなどの影響と結び付けている」と評価。「日本の大都市生活者の意識を超感覚的な世界に自然に導く魔術的現実主義とも言うべき独特の作風を打ち立てた」と述べている。
同賞は1999年に創設され、村上氏は16人目の受賞者。これまでフィリップ・ロス氏やベルンハルト・シュリンク氏らが受賞している。賞金は1万ユーロ(約140万円)。(時事)

On the 4th a major German daily newspaper
the Welt (electronic edition) announced that this year Mr. Haruki Murakami would
be awarded the "Welt literary award" given out by the same newspaper.
An award ceremony would be held in Berlin on November 7th.
As for the reason of recognition, the selection committee regarded "Mr.
Murakami as the most important writer in modern Japan ", and commented that
"he has connected the influence of pop culture etc. to the huge
tradition of the so called modern European and American". It said that "he
has set a unique style which should be called magical realism that naturally
leads metropolitan consumers of Japan
to become aware of the world of extrasensory".
The award was founded in 1999 and Mr. Murakami would be the 16th
winner. Mr. Philip Roth, and Mr. Bernhard Schlink and others were awarded so
far. The prize was 10,000 euros (about 1,400,000 yen).
