　中国の有力電機メーカーが、タブレット端末の製造や販売に相次いで乗り出した。米アップルなどから製造を請け負う業者が国内にそろっているため、参入のハードルが低い。同じ構図で世界シェアが急成長したスマートフォン（スマホ）の再現をねらう。

　「アンドロイドを基本ソフトに使ったタブレットとして、世界で最も高性能になる」。人気スマホメーカー小米科技（シャオミー）の雷軍・最高経営責任者は１５日、北京で開いた新製品発表会でタブレットへの参入を宣言した。

　２０１０年に創業したシャオミーは、高性能のスマホをネット販売で安く売る手法で急成長を遂げた。１３年には約１８７０万台を売り、国内シェアではアップルに肩を並べる。６月以降の販売をめざすタブレットは、同じサイズのアップルの新型「ｉＰａｄミニ」よりも高性能だと言い、価格は記憶容量が１６ギガバイトで１４９９元（約２万４千円）とほぼ半額に抑えた。

Chinese leading electrical equipment manufactures one after another started the manufacturing and sale of tablet computers. As contractors who had the manufacturing contracts with the U.S. Apple etc. they aligned themselves in the country and their hurdle of entry was low. With the same composition, they aimed at the reappearance of a rapid growth in world share for smart phones.

“A tablet using android as an operating system is the most efficient worldwide". Lei Jun, the chief executive officer of a popular smart phone manufacturer the Kogome Technology (Shaomi) declared the company’s entry into the tablet during a new-product-release meeting held in Beijing on the 15^th (May).

Starting in 2010, Shaomi had accomplished a rapid growth using the technique of selling highly efficient smart phones through online sales at a low price. About 18,700,000 sets were sold in 2013, and in domestic share it was the equal of the Apple. It was said that its tablets, aiming at the sale in June and beyond, would be much more efficient than the Apple’s same size new model "iPad mini". For an item with a storage capacity of 16 G bytes selling at 1499 yuan (about 24,000 yen), the price was almost a reduction by half.

It seems that Apple will face strong competition in China.
