Recently the Mainichi News on-line reported the following:

Based on the investigation that looked for cities with high living expenses, Zurich in Switzerland exceeded Tokyo to rank first. The English economic magazine Economist's investigation section the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) spread out to 130 cities in the world to investigate the prices of 400 or more items, such as food, garments, and house rental.
According to this investigation, the investor who was apprehensive about the Europe debt crisis had moved funds from Euro to the safer Swiss franc, thus led to the appreciation of the Swiss franc and affected Zurich to move up to the top place from the 5th place last year. Geneva was at the 3rd place.
In Australia five cites had move to the top 20. Sydney and Melbourne were at the 7th and the 8th place, respectively. Mr. John Koepp Stig who took charge of the investigation said in a declaration that "It is the exchange rate that has influenced the living expenses of Australia most, and the Australian dollar went up twice against the U.S. dollar in the past ten years".
The rank of Vancouver in Canada ranked at the 37th place to become the city that had the highest living expenses in North America. In the US, Los Angeles was the highest at the 42nd place which was same as Shanghai. New York was at the 47th place.
In Asia Singapore was ranked at the 9th place, and Seoul of South Korea had gone higher to the 27th place.
I am wondering why Hong Kong was not mentioned.
