The 'Comic Market 80', the biggest comic association sales fair in Japan held in the Tokyo Big Sight at Koto Ward of Tokyo came to a close on the 14th. While on the closing day 200,000 people had come, being the same as the past highest record; in the three-day period in total the number of people was 540,000, and it had not reached 560,000 that was recorded in 2009 and in 2010. It was five years ago that the number of people came in the summer was a decrease when compared with the previous year: 430,000 people in the year 2006 in 'Comic 70', being a decrease of 50,000 people compared with the previous year. The sponsoring preparation association said that 「It is thought it was due to the influence of the East Japan great earthquake. There are still a lot of people looking forward to it, although it is thought that the total would decrease further」.
The next 'Comic 81' was scheduled to be opened for three days between 29 - 31 in December 2011 in Tokyo Big Sight.
Perhaps the decrease in the number of people is related to the weak economy in Japan.
