It had been understood that America's chief minister to Japan J.P. Zumwait would attend the peace memorial ceremony at Nagasaki City on the ninth this month on behalf of the US. Although chief minister Zumwait had attended the ceremony at Hiroshima City on the 6th, supposedly it would be the first time to attend the ceremony at Nagasaki City.
According to people related to the matter, America's chief minister to Japan Zumwait, as Charge d'Affaires ad interim, would attend the peace memorial ceremony held in Nagasaki City on the ninth this month to mourn the victims. Parties connected to the ceremony had the report from the American government on the fifth that a representative of the US, the country that had dropped the atomic bomb would attend the ceremony of Nagasaki City for the first time.
Last year although Ruth the Ambassador to Japan attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony at Hiroshima City for the first time, he did not attend the ceremony in Nagasaki City because it was not able to arrange the schedule; he later visited Nagasaki, and offered flowers at the atomic bomb dropping location to mourn the dead. As Zumwait the chief minister to Japan had attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony held in Hiroshima City on the sixth, it would be the first time for a representative of the US to attend both the Hiroshima and the Nagasaki ceremonies. Kurokawa Tomoo the atomic bomb radiation exposure measures director in Nagasaki City said "want him to see fully the actual damage of Nagasaki if he attends".
It is interesting to note that there is some small attitude changes in the American regarding this WWII matter.
