アメリカの航空機メーカーのボーイングは、従業員全体のおよそ10％にあたる1万7000人程度を削減する計画を明らかにしました。品質問題を背景とした業績の低迷に、労働組合によるストライキも加わり、会社の経営は厳しさを増しています。

これは、ボーイングのケリー・オルトバーグCEOが11日の声明で明らかにしました。

この中で、オルトバーグ氏は「会社を立て直すためには厳しい決断が必要だ」とした上で今後、数か月の間に従業員全体のおよそ10％にあたる1万7000人程度を削減するとともに、次世代の大型機、777X型機については納入時期を来年から再来年に遅らせるなどとしています。

ボーイングでは、ことし1月に旅客機の窓部分のパネルが飛行中に吹き飛ぶ事故が起きるなど、品質問題を背景に業績の低迷が続く中、西部ワシントン州のシアトル郊外などの工場で働く従業員およそ3万3000人が加入する労働組合が先月13日からストライキに突入し、航空機の生産や納入に影響が出ています。

会社側は4年間で30％の賃上げを行うことなどを提案しましたが、組合側との溝は埋まらず提案を撤回していて、ストライキがさらに長期化した場合、ボーイング本体だけでなく、取引先の企業にも影響が拡大する可能性があります。
