日駐華大使汽車被襲事件中國禁止報紙獨自報道

Recently the Yomiuri News on-line reported the following:

丹羽宇一郎・駐中国大使の車が襲撃された事件で、中国当局が国内各メディアに対し、事件に関しては当局の発表以外に独自報道はしないよう規制する通達を出していたことが３０日わかった。

　中国のメディア関係者によると、通達は２７日の襲撃事件発生直後に出された。中国各紙は３０日現在、事件の発生や経緯に関してほぼ沈黙を続けている。

　この関係者は、報道規制の狙いについて、〈１〉反日行動が激化しないようにする〈２〉事件自体を封じ込め、容疑者の処分を隠密に進める――の２点を挙げ、「事件の対応を誤れば中国国民の反日感情はさらにこじれ、反日デモが拡大しかねない。当局は事件の報道を減らすことで批判も封じ込めたい思惑だ」と話す。

　だが、インターネット上では、日本メディアによる襲撃事件報道の中国語訳が数多く掲載され、書き込みも殺到している。ポータルサイト「騰訊網」の調査では、回答者約５万３０００人のうち、今回の大使車襲撃を「良いこと」とする回答が８２％に達するなど、当局の報道規制があっても事件への関心や、犯人への支持も高まっている模様だ。

Regarding the incident in which Japanese Ambassador to China Uichiro Niwa's car was attacked, it turned out on the 30th that a notification was sent out to all domestic media by the China authorities saying that the latter might not do their own reporting about the incident other than the authorities' announcement.

According to people related to the media, the notification was sent out immediately after the occurrence of this attacking incident on the 27th. Now on the 3oth, China papers were mostly continuing keeping silence about the occurrence and the circumstances related to the incident.

According to the related people, regarding the aim of the press restriction two points were mentioned <1>try to keep anti-Japanese action from intensifying  <2> to keep the incidents to itself, so that the handling of the suspect could be carried out in confidential. It was said that "if the response to the incident is handled incorrectly, the Chinese people's anti-Japan sentiment could be complicated further, and the anti-Japan demonstrations may expand. The authorities are expected to limit the criticism by reducing the reporting of an incident."

But in the Internet many Chinese translation of the news of the attack as reported in the Japanese media were published, and writing on it was also pouring in. In a research done by a portal site the "Tengxun Net", among about 53,000 respondents, the reply which regarded this attack on the ambassador’s vehicle as "a good thing" had reached 82% etc; even there was the authorities' press restriction, the concern expressed over this incident and the support given to the offender seemed to be increasing.

The party leaders in China probably know that nationalism is a double-edge sword, it can cut both ways.
