APEC=アジア太平洋経済協力会議が開催される中国・北京の会場では、国内で実施しているインターネットの規制が解除され、中国政府は外国メディアの批判の材料を減らしたいねらいがあるものとみられます。

In Beijing of China at the venues where APEC: Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation would be held, regulations over the Internet currently carried out inside China would be canceled; it was expected that the aim was that the Chinese government wanted to reduce the opportunity of criticism by foreign media.

From the 4th in Beijing foreign media would be able to perform Internet entry at some venues before APEC summit meeting started from the 10th of this month.

One of the venues was the press center. Websites that were subjected to inspection inside China because of restrictions imposed by the Chinese government could now be seen; also users could connect with the world's largest exchange sites: Facebook and twitter which their usage was regulated in China.

Concerning this, Hua Chun Ying the press secretary of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at an interview said "China is the host country of the APEC summit meeting, and the related department does its best to offer good conditions for the success of the meeting", and the cancellation of Internet regulation for the media was made known. As media from many different countries would visit China because of the APEC, the Chinese government was taking the exceptional measure of canceling the regulations, and it was expected that there was the aim of hoping to reduce the opportunity of criticism by foreign media.

In China in the Internet criticism in writing related to the organization would be deleted etc. and severe surveillance and regulation were performed; also this time the regulation of the Internet was not canceled outside the venues.

   I always look forward to a day when people in China could have unrestricted access to the Internet.
