A report on "Anti-Japanese war" distributed on the 1st (September) by China’s National Xinhua News Agency said that in China 1,500,000 former Japanese Imperial Army had been killed, and it represented 70% of the Japan's total death toll of its old Army in World War II.

According to the National Institute for Defense Studies of Japan’s Ministry of Defense, the statistics of the War Victims Relief Bureau of the old Ministry of Health and Welfare were <1> in mainland China (Hong Kong included) 455,700 people <2> in the old Manchuria 46,700. The total was 502,400 people. It was 23.7% of total (2,121,000) people killed in the war.2>1>
