Late last month the NHK News on-line reported the following:

In Gumma prefecture, noting that the radioactive cesium detected from the fish of nine rivers and a swamp within the prefecture had exceeded the new standard value of the country to be applied to food starting from next month (April), these locations were requested by individual local fisherman's cooperative association to exercise self-control in fishing starting from next month.
According to Gumma prefecture, when inspecting the radioactive material per kilo contained in the fish in rivers and a swamp within the prefecture, staring from last month up to this month radioactive cesium ranging from 105 to 490-Bq were detected from the landlocked salmon, char etc. in nine rivers and a swamp.
Although this was below the interim standard value of the country at the moment, since it would exceed the 100 Bq per kilo new standard value to be introduced next month, on the 26th Gumma prefecture requested the various fisherman's co-operative associations of these rivers and swamps to exercise fishing self-control starting from the 1st of the next month over fish caught for eating purposes, such as the landlocked salmon and char.
Regarding the target, it was the eight rivers with a portion that ran through the region, such as river Akagi Shirakawa that run through Maebashi, and river Usunegawa that flowed through Kawaba-mura; and also the Akagi Onuma of Maebashi.
According to the Gumma Prefecture, it was said that the fish of these rivers and a swamp was not circulated in the market; in most cases fishing visitors etc. brought it home.
At the moment the prefecture released the details of the locations of the eight rivers in its prefecture homepage and appealed for self-discipline in fishing; this request for self-discipline on the rivers and a swamp would be cancelled when in the inspections to be conducted from now on could show a value below the new standard for 3 times continuously.

It seems that the prefecture is serious about following the new standard on radioactive cesium applicable to sea food.
