Yesterday the Asahi News on-line reported the following:

On the 14th
Toshiba announced that regarding the 4K television it would put the smallest type, the Model 40 on the market in mid-July. It would add to the "Regza"
series of liquid crystal televisions. The anticipated regular price was held
down to around 230,000 yen excluding tax so that families could also buy it
easily.
The sale of
4K television was started in the country in December 2011. As the pixel count was 4
times more than the full hi-vision now in existence, a finer picture was
reflected. Because test broadcasting with images corresponding to 4K televisions
would start in July in the country, all household appliance companies were
putting effort into the sale.
When
Toshiba put the present model on the market a year ago, the regular price of
the smallest type, the Model 58 was around 500,000 yen. Although selling also
began at the level of 300,000 yen at the sales counter, with this
miniaturization, it was further made easy to buy. Moreover, as the red color was
more natural, the reflection was vivid; also the back light etc. had been
improved.
I would
like to buy a 4K television when the price becomes more affordable.
