韓国網上書店: 選出東野圭吾為「年度作家」

A few weeks ago the Mainichi News on-line reported the following:

韓国・ネット書店:「今年の作家」に東野圭吾さん

　韓国のインターネット書店大手インターパークは２５日までに、販売部数と読者投票から選ぶ「今年の作家」に東野圭吾さんが選出されたと発表した。代表作は「ナミヤ雑貨店の奇蹟」としている。

　今年の作家は国内外の作家が選出対象で、東野さんは韓国人作家を抑える形で選ばれた。

　東野さんの作品は韓国でも人気で、「さまよう刃」や「容疑者Ｘの献身」は韓国でも映画化。同社サイトでは「思いがけない素材を自由自在に味付けする卓越した語り手」と紹介されている。（共同）

A major Korean Internet bookstore the Inter Park announced that Mr. Keigo Higashino was elected as "Author of the Year", chosen based on the number of books sold and the reader votes up to the 25^th (December). The masterpiece was the "Miracle in the Namiya Grocery Store".

  Targeted authors for the election this year were those from domestic and abroad. To choose Mr. Higashino created an image that Korean authors were being suppressed.

  Mr. Higashino's work was also popular in Korea and his "Wandered Blade" and "Devotion of Suspect X" were made into films in Korea. The web-site of the said company introduced him as "an outstanding narrator who seasoned unexpected material freely".

I think Mr. Keigo Higashino is also very popular in Japan for his mystery stories.
