川崎市中學生自殺

Recently Asahi News reported the following:

川崎市多摩区にある市立中学３年生の男子生徒（１４）が自宅のトイレで自殺していたことが９日、神奈川県警や市教育委員会への取材で分かった。麻生署によると、トイレからは「友達へのいじめを止められなかった」といった内容とみられる手書きの遺書が見つかっており、同署や市教委がいじめの有無や詳しい経緯を調べている。
　麻生署によると、７日午後４時５０分ごろ、同市麻生区にある自宅のトイレで倒れている男子生徒を母親（４４）が見つけ、１１９番通報した。生徒は病院に運ばれたが、死亡が確認された。トイレから有毒ガスが検知されたことから、同署は生徒がガスを発生させ、自殺したとみて調べている。ガスは硫化水素とみられ、生徒が材料の薬品を自分で購入し、調合したらしい。
　　市教委などによると、生徒は父母と祖母、兄との５人暮らし。野球部に所属して、勉強にも前向きに取り組んでおり、学校には一日も休まず通っていた。担任教諭は「いじめについて把握していない」と説明しているという。

Based on details obtained from the Kanagawa Prefecture Police and the city's Board of Education it was understood that a municipal third grade Junior high school student (14) in Kawasaki City Tama Ward had committed suicide in the toilet at home on the ninth. According to the Aso Police Station, a hand-written testament found in the toilet was thought to have written "Bullying to the friend was not stopped", and the same police station and the city's Education Committee were examining in details the presence of any bullying.

According to the Aso police station, the mother (44) found the schoolboy collapsed in the toilet at home in Aso Ward of the same city at around 4:50PM on the seventh, and 119 was dialed accordingly to inform the matter. The student was carried to the hospital but death was confirmed. Because in their examination poisonous fume was detected in the toilet and the gas had been generated by the student, the police investigated the case in the direction of suicide. It was thought to be hydrogen sulfide, and the student seemed to have bought the chemical by himself and mixed the gas.

According to the city's Education Committee etc. the student lived with the parents, the grandmother, and the elder brothers in total five people. He belonged to the baseball club, and he worked positively on his studying, and did not take a rest at the school even for one day. The teacher in charge said that "Bullying had not been detected".

Bullying in school is a serious matter. I hope the school authority could learn from the matter so as to prevent further happening of similar events.
