US Moderna to be adopted by S & P500: famous for corona vaccine development

 ニューヨーク（ＣＮＮ Ｂｕｓｉｎｅｓｓ） 米バイオテクノロジー企業のモデルナが、米株式市場のＳ＆Ｐ５００指数に採用されることになった。モデルナの名は新型コロナウイルスワクチンの開発で広く知られるようになった。

Ｓ＆Ｐ５００採用の発表があったのは１５日遅く。これを受けモデルナ株は１６日午前の取引で１０％上昇した。年初来の上げ幅は１７５％近くに達し、市場評価額は１０００億ドル（約１１兆円）以上に膨らんだ。

Ｓ＆Ｐ５００採用を受け、同指数への連動を目指すパッシブ運用の投資信託や上場投資信託（ＥＴＦ）は、モデルナ株をポートフォリオに加える必要が出てくる。１６日の株価上昇はこれが主な要因だった。

モデルナに取って代わられるのは米製薬企業のアレクシオン・ファーマシューティカルズ。同社は英製薬大手アストラゼネカによって買収手続きが進められている。

Ｓ＆Ｐによると、指数の変更は２１日の市場開始前に発効するという。

モデルナは米食品医薬品局（ＦＤＡ）の承認を受けた新型コロナワクチン３つのうちの１つを製造する。このほか、ファイザー・ビオンテック連合がモデルナ製に似た２回接種型のワクチン、ジョンソン・エンド・ジョンソン（Ｊ＆Ｊ）が１回接種型のワクチンを製造している。

According to S & P, the index change would take effect before the market started on the 21st.

Moderna manufactured one of three new corona vaccines approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The others were the Pfizer-BioNtech coalition producing a double-dose vaccine similar to that made by Moderna, while Johnson & Johnson (J & J) manufactured a single-dose vaccine.

              So, Moderna is adopted into the S & P500. It is surprising to know that its value has increased nearly 175% since the beginning of the year.
