毎日新聞に掲載されている、4コマ漫画の「アサッテ君」が、2014年いっぱいでその幕を下ろすことになった。
1974年6月から連載をスタートし、40年続いてきたアサッテ君。
一般全国紙の連載漫画で最長の1万3,749回を記録し、終わりを迎えることとなる。
サラリーマンの主人公の会社や、家庭での日常をユーモラスに描いたアサッテ君。
作者の東海林 さだおさんは「アサッテ一家は、毎日新聞の紙面からは消えますが、日本のどこかで元気に暮らしているはずです。長々とおつきあいいただき、本当にありがとうございました」とコメントしている。

"Mr. Asatte", a four-frame cartoon which appeared in the Mainichi Newspapers was going to lower its curtain by the end of 2014.

The Mr. Asatte series was started from June 1974 and had been continued for 40 years.

The 13,749 times was the longest recorded for a cartoon series in a general national newspaper and it would meet its end.

The main character was an office worker Mr. Asatte; it was about his humorous daily life in the company and at home.

Mr. Sadao Shoji the author made a comment "although the Asatte family would disappear from the space of Mainichi Newspapers, it would live in good health somewhere in Japan. For a long time we have been together, thank you very much really".

"Mr. Asatte" is a popular cartoon series in Japan. It is amazing to note that the series had been continued for 40 years.
