美國下議院外交委員長「竹島的正式名稱是独島」

　【ワシントン＝白川義和】韓国の聯合ニュースによると、米下院外交委員会のエド・ロイス委員長（共和党）は６日、同ニュースなどとのインタビューで、島根県の竹島について、「正しい名称は独島（竹島の韓国名）である」と述べた。

　名称について「歴史的観点から見なければならない」として韓国側の主張を支持する考えを示した。

　いわゆる従軍慰安婦についても、「慰安婦は強制的に動員され、性奴隷として生きた」と述べ、「歴史を否定する日本は弁明の余地はない」と主張した。

　ロイス氏は韓国系団体が慰安婦を象徴する少女像を設置したカリフォルニア州グレンデールに近い選挙区から選出され、親韓派議員として知られる。今年１月には慰安婦像に献花している。

 On the 6th (December) according to the Korean Union News, Chairperson Ed Royce  (Republican Party) of the Lower House Foreign Relations Committee of the US, in an interview with the said News had stated that regarding Takeshima in Shimane prefecture "The proper name was Tok-island (the Korean name of Takeshima)".

 About the name, "I have to judge from a historical point of view", indicated the idea that the Korean side’s claim was supported.

 About the so-called army’s comfort woman, he stated that "Comfort women were rallied by force and lived as sex slave", and insisted that "There was no room to justify Japan to deny history".

 Mr. Royce was well-known as a pro-Korea party councilor who was elected from a constituency near  Glenn Dale of the State of California where a Korean organization had erected a statue of a girl that symbolized a comfort woman. He laid flowers to this comfort woman statute in January this year (2014).

Give the political background of Mr. Royce, it is easy to predict that he would support the name Tok-island.
