Google Launches Conversational AI "Bard" - Competing with Chat GPT

（ＣＮＮ） 米グーグルは２１日、対話型ＡＩ（人工知能）「Ｂａｒｄ（バード）」の一般公開を始めた。「チャットＧＰＴ」と直接競合する対話型ＡＩツールとなる。

ユーザーは２１日から、Ｂａｒｄにアクセスするための順番待ちリストに参加できる。Ｂａｒｄはユーザーが文章の大枠をまとめて下書きを書いたり、友人の出産前祝いを計画したり、冷蔵庫の中身をもとに昼食の献立を考えたりする助けになるとうたわれている。

関係者によると、Ｂａｒｄはグーグル検索とは別の補完的な体験を提供するもので、ユーザーは検索画面を訪れ、Ｂａｒｄの回答や情報源について確認することもできるという。

グーグルはまず米国と英国でＢａｒｄの公開を開始し、将来的に他の国や言語にも拡大する方針。

チャットＧＰＴが大きな成功を収めたことを受け、グーグルやマイクロソフト、フェイスブックなどはＡＩ搭載ツールの開発や展開にしのぎを削っている。グーグルは先週、「Ｇメール」や「シート」、「ドキュメント」を含むツールにＡＩを導入する方針を発表。マイクロソフトもその後、自社ツールでＡＩを活用した同様のアップグレードを行うと発表した。

グーグルは先月、Ｂａｒｄのデモ版を公開したものの、その後、望遠鏡に関する質問に不正確な回答を返したことが指摘された。グーグルの親会社アルファベットの株価は指摘があった当日に７．７％下落し、時価総額１０００億ドル（約１３兆円）が吹き飛んだ。

ＡＩ研究企業のオープンＡＩによって昨年１１月後半に公開されたチャットＧＰＴと同様、Ｂａｒｄは「大規模言語モデル」に基づいている。大規模言語モデルではユーザーの入力に対して説得力ある回答を生み出すため、インターネット上の膨大なデータで訓練を行う。

People said Bard offered a complementary experience separate from Google Search, where users could also visit the search screen to see Bard's answers and sources of information.

Google would launch Bard in the US and UK first, with plans to expand to other countries and languages in the future.

Google, Microsoft, Facebook and others were competing vigorously to develop and deploy AI-powered tools after Chat GPT's huge success. Google last week announced plans to bring AI to its tools, including Gmail, Sheets and Docs. Microsoft later announced it would perform a similar upgrade using AI with its own tools

Google released a demo version of Bard last month, but was later accused of giving inaccurate answers to questions about the telescope. The stock price of Google's parent company Alphabet fell 7.7% on the day of the allegation, wiping out its $100 billion market capitalization.

Like Chat GPT, launched late November by AI research firm OpenAI, Bard was based on a "large-scale language model." For large-scale language model, in order to produce convincing answers responding to user input, training was done on vast amounts of data on the internet.

              So, Google has launched its conversational AI, Bard, to the public to directly compete with "Chat GPT". I do not think competition in the development of AI chatting software will slow down soon. To the entrepreneurs competition is about company survival, market share and profit.
