Nissan announces its SUV "Aria” electric vehicles

（ＣＮＮ Ｂｕｓｉｎｅｓｓ） 日産自動車は１５日のオンライン・イベントで、新型電気自動車（ＥＶ）の多目的スポーツ車（ＳＵＶ）「アリア」を発表した。

日産は２０１０年に初のＥＶ「リーフ」を発表。当時のゴーン最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）はＥＶシリーズの開発計画を打ち出し、２０２０年までに世界の自動車市場でＥＶのシェアが１０％に達すると予想していた。

しかし国際エネルギー機関（ＩＥＡ）によれば、現時点でＥＶのシェアは２．６％にとどまっている。この間に日産が発売したＥＶとしては、リーフの新型モデル以外にミニバンタイプの「ｅ―ＮＶ２００」があるものの、米国では販売されていない。

アリアは日産が米国市場に投入するＥＶの第２弾となる。リーフより大きく、車内も広い。フロント部分にはエンジン冷却用の「グリル」に代わって、日本の伝統的な「組子」模様を取り入れたパネルが採用されている。

エンジンルームに相当するスペースには空調ユニットなどを収め、室温やオーディオの調整はボタンやスイッチでなくアイコンをタッチして操作する。

さらに、高速道路での手放し走行を可能にする運転支援技術「プロパイロット」を搭載。床下に内蔵したバッテリーの容量は６３ｋｗｈと８７ｋｗｈの２種類があり　８７ｋｗｈタイプは１回の充電による航続距離が米環境保護局（ＥＰＡ）換算で約４８０キロとされる。加速は時速１００キロまで約５秒と、スポーツカー並みだ。

アリアは日本国内で来年半ば、米国ではそれ以降に発売される予定。米国での価格は約４万ドル（約４３０万円）からと、フォード「マスタング・マッハＥ」、テスラ「モデルＹ」などのＥＶより数千ドル安く設定される見通しだ。

Aria would be the second EV to be launched by Nissan in the US market. It was larger than the Leaf and spacious inside the car. The front part, for engine cooling, it used a panel that incorporated the traditional Japanese "Kumiko" pattern instead of the "cooling grill".

A space equivalent to the engine room contained an air conditioning unit, etc., and one could operate the room temperature and audio by touching icons instead of buttons and switches.

In addition, it was equipped with a "professional pilot" driving assistance technology that enabled free-wheeling on highways. There were two types of battery capacity under the floor, 63kwh and 87kwh. The 87kwh type had a cruising range of about 480km on a single charge, calculated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The acceleration was in about 5 seconds up to 100 km/h, which would be similar to a sports car.

The Aria would be released in Japan in the middle of next year and in the US after that. The price in the US would be from about 40,000 dollars (about 4.3 million yen), which was expected to be set at a few thousand dollars cheaper than EVs such as Ford "Mustang Mach E" and Tesla "Model Y".

              So, Nissan will continue its competition in the EV market in the US.
