A part of the new port facility which was under construction in Indonesia using an international yen loan of about 120 billion yen from Japan was completed and started to be used.

The Indonesian government planned to build a new port facility which could be one of the largest in the country in Patimban that was located about 120 km east of the capital Jakarta. It received an international yen loan of more than 118.9 billion yen from the Japanese government in 2017 and the construction was in progress.

Out of this, some facilities such as the container terminal and wharf were completed and started to be used, and on the 20th a commemorative ceremony was held with the attendance of officials from the Indonesian government and the Japanese embassy.

President Joko Widodo who participated online said, "This port will be an important link between the airport and the industrial park and will accelerate exports from Indonesia".

Many Japanese companies, mainly in the manufacturing industry such as automobiles and electrical appliances, were occupying an industrial park near Patimban, and it was expected that these companies could also be able to reduce logistics costs with new port facilities.

The Indonesian government wanted to complete all the facilities by 2027.

So, this project could benefit the many Japanese companies in the manufacturing industry such as automobiles and electrical appliances that are occupying the industrial park near Patimban. This construction work can be viewed as a PR project of Japan.
