Last month the Yomiuri News on-line reported the following:

Among the about 560,000 university graduates, those who “ had not taken up a stable employment”, such as those not having non-regular contractors, full time company employment, or entered into a school to advance their education, was about 115,000 people. Although it decreased by about 12,000 people compared with the last fiscal year, it still accounted for twenty percent. This was disclosed on the 7th by the news flash of the School Basic Survey of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Those who were able to take up the post of regular employment had gone up to 350,000 with an increase of about 18,000 people compared with the last fiscal year.

The said ministry changed part of the School Basic Survey of last fiscal year in order to include the actual condition of the university graduate contractor who had taken up a non-regular employment position. The category of non-regular employment etc. was added. In the said ministry, it was expected that energy would be put into the employment support by cooperating with the job placement office because "the issue that there are no less than twenty percent who cannot take up a stable employment position should be improved continuously."

Moreover, in the investigation, the ratio of female teacher at the high school occupied 30.7% (an increase of 0.4 point compared with last the fiscal year); and at the university with 21.9% (an increase of the 0.7 point), respectively they had become the highest record ever.

It seems that 20% is not a high figure in view of the economic situation world-wide.
