Recently the Mainichi News reported the following:

At the press conference on the 21st Taniyonin Chief Cabinet Secretary described the collision event between the Japan Coast Guard patrol boat and the Chinese fishing boat at Okinawa Prefecture in the vicinity of Senkaku Islands, and about the video taken by the Japan Coast Guard on the collision event, said that "As a rule, it is impossible to make public the evidence when the investigation has not been settled", and showed a careful attitude as to open it up to the public at the present moment. Moreover, it was also said that 「It is in the stage of processing, whether there is or is not any public interest involved to make public the evidence should be left to the judgment of the public prosecutors office. Naturally, there is an urge from the government, too」.

In relation to that on 21st Prime Minister Naoto Kan pointed out to reporters in the official residence that "Based on the consideration to deepen the mutually strategically beneficial relationship, it is necessary to respond calmly". Kitazawa Minister of Defense said in the interview on the same day that 「Here the fishing boat has collided, there was doubt as whether such was accurately conveyed to a Chinese government and the people. It is necessary for Japan to make an effort in telling things accurately. 」

It seems that the fishing boat collision incident is far from over.
