日本国内企業用英語

Recently Yomiuri News reported the following:

「日本国内(の業務)で全部、英語なんてバカな話はない」――。ホンダの伊東孝紳社長は20日の記者会見で、社内共通語を英語にする考えに否定的な考えを示した。

 国内企業では、インターネットサービス大手の楽天が先月、2012年中に社内で英語を公用語とする方針を打ち出した。 ユニクロを展開するファーストリテイリングも、外国人社員を交えた会議や海外店への文書を原則、2012年3月から英語に統一する予定だ。自動車業界では、仏ルノーと資本・業務提携している日産自動車が役員会などで英語を使用し、書類の日英併記などを進めている。

"It is not all foolish to speak English inside Japan (when doing business)", President Takashi Ito of Honda at the press conference on the 20th showed a negative attitude towards the idea of making English completely an in-house common language.

Among the domestic enterprises, Rakuten the major company in Internet service had come up with a policy last month that English would become the official language in-house by 2012 .
Fast Retailing that developed Uniqlo also planned to set the principle that in conferences that were for the exchange of ideas with foreigner employees and in documents sent to an overseas shops, English had to be used uniformly starting from March 2012. In the car industry, Nissan Motor Co. that had formed a tie-up with French Renault in capital and in business, had used English in board of directors meetings, and parallel writing in Japanese-English in documents was in progress.

Japanese company employees would be more busy in learning English to help them doing business. This arrangement would help connect Japan with the English speaking business world.
